Earlier Tuesday, news broke that Florida State defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt was leaving for the same position at the University of Georgia. The main question from Florida State fans is why?

Multiple sources have said that this move was not about money, and that Florida State essentially matched the annual offer of $850K from Georgia. Considering the state taxes in Georgia (and the lack of them in Florida), there was not a substantial money difference in the offers.
Sources also indicate that Pruitt is not leaving because of any poor relationship with other coaches or Jimbo Fisher. Fisher had a rocky relationship at times with former coordinator Mark Stoops, but this was not the case with Pruitt and Fisher.
Georgia people are saying that Pruitt is very good buddies with Georgia offensive line coach Will Friend, and that it may have been a factor in him leaving FSU after just one year as a coordinator -- his only year as an FBS coordinator.
Further, some sources of mine have speculated that for non-football related reasons, Athens could be better for Pruitt than Tallahassee.
