The Alabama product chose the Auburn Tigers over Alabama and Florida State.

Four-star athlete Kerryon Johnson committed to Auburn Tuesday at his school in Madison, Ala., choosing the Tigers over other front-runners Alabama and Florida State. Johnson rates as the No. 2 athlete in the 2015 class and the second-best overall prospect in the state of Alabama. He cited the relationships and the small-town feel of Auburn.

"The Auburn coaches are good Christian guys who will get on you, but it's about love," Johnson said. "We talked about family."

A two-way starter in high school, Johnson battled through injuries to become a productive running back and safety, and schools recruited him to play on both sides of the ball. Johnson contends that he can play running back in college, but those who are worried about his injuries think he's a better fit in the defensive backfield. He has potential on either side of the ball, and according to AL.com, he's stolen the show in the last three Alabama state title games.

Johnson has been the best player on the field in last three AHSAA Class 3A state title games, starring as a runner, defensive back, receiver and kick returner. He really can do it all and has the size to be a difference maker on either side of the ball.

Johnson visited all three of his finalists this spring. He grew up a Florida State fan and has known for awhile that he wanted to stay in the area for college, according to AL.com.

"I knew I could see myself staying in-state and I knew from being a Florida State fan growing up that I could see myself going there," he said. "I didn't want to waste time going up North and I just set a standard to make it easy on myself and other people. I knew basically the few places I would likely go and luckily for me I picked three really great schools."
