"Beasted"
Though neither school invited recruits to the game, Georgia's win over Florida should pay dividends on the recruiting trail. But it's not about beating the Gators, though that is a very nice win. The real impact could be felt if the Dawgs take care of business and again reach the SEC Championship. If they were to win, that helps recruiting. And if they were to lose, they can tell the few remaining recruits on their board that they are the piece needed to get over the hump. The win also helped silence any "Mark Richt hot seat" talk, which surprisingly crept up after Georgia's blowout loss at South Carolina.
The win did impress star offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil, who has long had Georgia and Alabama out in front for his signature. "Georgia beasted Florida," Tunsil told 247sports.
Conversely, I don't expect Florida's loss to have a negative impact on recruiting. Florida's commitments probably didn't expect the Gators to go undefeated, so there is little sense of unfulfilled expectations.
Nick Saban's cookie cake
Alabama hosted one of the top receivers in the country in Robert Foster, of Pennsylvania, and the recruit was nice enough to chronicle his trip via Twitter.

RSJ border war continues
A fierce SEC battle is brewing between LSU and Texas A&M for receiver Ricky Seals-Jones. Here's a video update on his recruitment.
Good and bad for Huskers
It's always newsworthy when Nebraska gets a top recruit to make the trip to Lincoln, and that's exactly what happened Saturday as the Cornhuskers beat the Michigan Wolverines in front of an electric crowd:
...but a foursome from the West region drew some of the most attention. Quarterback Johnny Stanton (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif./Santa Margarita) was the lone verbal commitment from the West Coast in attendance, but the Cornhuskers made an impression on ESPN 150 safety Priest Willis (Tempe, Ariz./Marcos De Niza). Nebraska also hosted two intriguing recruits in offensive tackle Aaron Cochran (Atwater, Calif./Buhach Colony) and wide receiver Damore'ea Stringfellow (Moreno Valley, Calif./Rancho Verde), who is committed to Washington. -- ESPN ($)
Stringfellow is an especially interesting recruit. He has a huge frame and is exactly the type of player Nebraska would want to win 1-on-1 battles in the Big Ten.
It wasn't all good for Nebraska, however, as the Huskers did lose a commitment from defensive end Christian LaCouture. This is a bit of a surprise considering LaCouture was expected to be an early enrollee, and plays for Lincoln (NE) Southwest High School. He'll now visit LSU as the Tigers host Alabama.
Indiana nabs another
An under the radar pickup happened last week as four-star Rashad Fant of Fairburn (Ga.) Our Lady of Mercy High School chose Indiana. I had a chance to see Fant over the summer at the Jimbo Fisher football camp. While he's not a nationally-elite player, Fant has the quickness to make a big impact in the Big Ten. He is a very nice get for the Hoosiers.
Stocking the Champaign room
Illinois hosted a big-time 2014 recruit in linebacker Clifton Garrett. I had a chance to see Garrett this summer at the IMG 7-on-7 Madden National Championship in Bradenton, and he was very impressive. Garrett told 247sports ($) that it was a good experience:
"I had a really good time there," Garrett said. "It was a good game-day atmosphere. It wasn't the best game-day atmosphere I've seen like Notre Dame or Michigan State but it was still a good game-day atmosphere. I got to do a tour and had a really good time down there."
Oregon puts on a show
It's difficult for Oregon to get recruits to take unofficial visits to Eugene due to distance, so the Ducks rely on official visits. And a big one was on campus this weekend in safety Leon McQuay III. Oregon's impressive facilities and blowout win over Colorado can't hurt Oregon's chances. The weather could have been better (51 degrees with light rain) for a Florida kid, but it also could have been a lot worse.
Stanford adds tight end from SEC country
Stanford eeked out a win over Washington State Saturday and pulled a big recruit in Greg Taboada Sunday. Out of Atlanta's Marist School, Taboada is a smart tight end who also held offers from Alabama, Florida State and Oregon. Taboada is scheduled to take a visit to Alabama on Nov. 23, but the status of that visit following his commitment to the Cardinal is unknown. Stanford's strong academics and recent history of heavy tight end use certainly played a role in this recruitment.
Winning and weather both work for Wildcats
Top JUCO offensive tackle Trenton Brown didn't have any reaction via Twitter to Arizona's big upset win over the USC Trojans, but he did seem to like the weather. A lot. Especially compared to what he found waiting for him when he returned to Georgia.

His teammate Mario Alford, however, did pull the trigger and commit to the Wildcats after watching them upset Arizona, ESPN reports. Alford is a 5'10, 180-pound athlete who could play running back or slot in Rich Rodriguez's offense. He could also play defensive back.
