John Franklin, an athlete out of Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) South Plantation High School, committed to the Florida State Seminoles Thursday.
The decision came less than 24 hours after FSU extended an offer to Franklin, who was very excited about the news.

On Monday, he spoke with Chris Nee of 247sports.
"It feels like home," Franklin said Thursday morning. "I see myself excelling there academically and athletically." floridastate.247sports.com/Article/South-…

Franklin was recruited by Eddie Gran, one of Florida State's ace recruiters in the South Florida area. He is a three-star recruit, stands 6'2", weighs 180 pounds and plays multiple positions.
Bud's take: Franklin is a very athletic player. While he will likely get an initial shot at quarterback in Tallahassee, his real future is likely at safety or receiver. His offer list (Air Force, Bowling Green, Navy, Temple, FIU) is not impressive, but some believe that his insistence on playing QB -- something that may have changed recently, perhaps held him back from receiving more offers.
There's also no doubt that his friendship with teammate Alex Collins, perhaps the best running back in the state of Florida, helped to play a role in his decision.
Franklin is also an excellent student.
Franklin's coach Doug Gatewood says John Franklin is a no-brainer. Sports a 4.0 GPA with 20 ACT. Athleticism to spare.
