According to a report by the AJC, an arrest warrant has been issued for Darnell Salomon, a five-star junior receiver recruit from South Florida for a burglary on Georgia's campus.
Georgia's off-season arrests and subsequent suspensions or transfers have become an annual rite of passage in the college football world. South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier even cracks jokes about the yearly occurrence. This year, yet again, a number of players were arrested and subsequently transferred, leaving UGA especially vulnerable for the opening game against the Clemson Tigers.
But now, it seems that even recruits visiting Georgia are getting in trouble. According to the AJC, an arrest warrant has been issued for Darnell Salomon (spelled "Saloman" on the warrant) for burglary in a dormitory. Salomon, a high school junior out of Hialeah (Fla.) Champagnat Catholic, was visiting Georgia for its annual Dawg Night camp and had visited Florida State and Alabama earlier in the week:
According to an incident report released to the AJC on Monday, UGA Police were dispatched to Rooker Hall in the East Campus Village area of campus in reference to a burglary that occurred in Busbee Hall early Saturday morning. Two female residents who are also UGA athletes reported they were awakened about 7:30 a.m. Saturday when an unknown black male entered their unlocked residence without permission and stole a wallet containing credit cards and an iPhone5 cell phone.
Salomon, who had already returned to Florida, is considered one of the top receiver recruits in the country for the signing class of 2016. He holds offers from all of the Southeastern powers, including Georgia, Florida State, Alabama, Florida, LSU, Clemson and more.
Georgia has recruited extremely well under Mark Richt and is one of only 11 schools to have more than half of its signees from the last four years rated as four- or five-star prospects.
