After Florida State's opening game, many fans had complaints about FSU's helmet and uniform. The helmet looked very matte, almost khaki/mustard in color, instead of the trademark metallic gold. And though it didn't look it in person, the facemask appeared to be purple on TV (apparently the lighting in the stadium had something to do with it on TV).
Now, there will be changes to both, according to Jeff Cameron of 97.9 ESPN Radio.
It's a process but FSU will return the helmet color to traditional gold & are fixing the face mask issue. No more purple. New spear stays..

In addition, the numbers on white jerseys were gold, and very difficult to see on TV and from any appreciable distance in person.
The gold numbers will be removed before seasons end and switched out for garnet.

No timetable has been given for the changes.
The new logo and Seminole symbols will stay but again helmets and numbers to be fixed. Helmets sooner than the numbers.

Just a point of clarification. They can't change helmets in time for today's game but will happen soon.
