Does Doeren really think FSU would use these two to fake injuries?
Florida State beat N.C. State Saturday 56-41, going on a 49-17 run after getting down 24-7. After, N.C. State head coach Dave Doeren whined about missed holding calls, and also accused Florida State faking injuries.
N.C. State - which had racked up 214 yards of offense in the first quarter - looked like a different team in the second half on offense, especially when it needed to move the ball in the fourth quarter.
Doeren blamed Florida State's players for the struggles.
"The tempo we had (in the first quarter) was working until all the crazy fall down things were going on and the clock kept stopping," Doeren said. "You know the refs can't do anything about that, but it's horrible the way the tempo gets slow downed by these injuries. We went fast in the first-quarter, I guess there were no fake injuries."
This is really stupid. Let's review why ...
On the fourth quarter drive in question, FSU suffered two injuries -- one to starting nose guard Derrick Mitchell, and one to starting defensive tackle Eddie Goldman.
Mitchell, it should be noted, did not re-enter the game, despite NC State running 20+ plays after his absence. He is only starting because starter Nile Lawrence-Stample was lost for the year with a torn pectoral injury. His backup? A true freshman.
Does Doeren really think that is the type of player FSU would use to take a dive, get a breather and slow down State's tempo? Really? Perhaps Doeren should watch the video which shows a clear leg whip.
Further, Eddie Goldman is also not the sort of player who would be asked to fake an injury. He is one of the best in the country at his position. Heck, Doeren himself called him the best in the country just a week ago,

Jimbo Fisher was mad Monday when asked about the accusations.
"I accuse him of not knowing what he's talking about. We did not fake injuries. We wouldn't do that," Fisher said. ""He can coach NC State and we'll coach FSU."
