It's safe to say Florida State made the right hire to replace Bobby Bowden.

And now, Florida State's Jimbo Fisher. With the win over Wake Forest Saturday, his 21st in a row, Fisher has joined an exclusive club as the 10th coach to win 50 games in his first five seasons as a head coach at the FBS level.
A lot went into Fisher reaching the record. It all started with excellent recruiting, as more than half of the recruits signed under Fisher as a head coach have been four- or five-stars. Fisher also recruited coaches extremely well, having to replace six coaches, including three coordinator in five years, all of which went on to promotions or lateral positions.
Some may note that Fisher coaches in era in which teams play more games than the old days, but he accomplished the feat in only 60 games, making the argument a non-starter.
Fisher also improved to 18-0 all time at home against Atlantic Division opponents. FSU has won the division three times under Fisher, and is on its way to making it four of five. Fisher's Seminoles have now won 18 consecutive games against the ACC, with the last loss coming nearly two years ago to the day, October 6, 2012, to N.C. State. Fisher's Seminoles are 29-6 in ACC play, including conference title games, good for a 0.829 winning percentage in league play.
Fisher's winning percentage, 0.833, is the best in the history of the conference for coaches who have coached at least one full season. Only three active coaches have a higher winning percentage than Fisher: Chris Petersen, Urban Meyer, and Gus Malzahn.
Fisher's Seminoles are also a perfect 4-0 in bowl games, 10-5 against top 25 teams, and 11-2 against rivals Florida, Miami, and Clemson.
