This is an ESPN In$ider article from Brian Fremeau, so you'll have to be an Insider to read the rest. Here's a portion on FSU.

"Fatal flaw: net starting field position (89th)
The Seminoles lost ground this week in the playoff committee rankings due to their quality win total. Florida State hasn't dominated as consistently this year as it was expected to do at the start of the year, and field position is a contributing factor. Twenty-seven percent of FSU's offensive drives have begun inside its own 20-yard line (16th most nationally) and 17 percent of its opponent's drives are starting in plus territory (eighth). On average, Florida State opponents are starting drives 2 yards farther downfield than the Seminoles. That difference may not seem like much, but it doesn't compare favorably with championship team profiles. Every national title winner in the past seven years had a positive net starting field position. FSU's opponent this weekend, Miami, ranks 14th in points per drive allowed in long field position situations (0.6)."
