Here are the playoff rankings for this week. Florida State is No. 3.
Committee chair thoughts: The committee looked at FSU's total body of work, the way they've controlled games, the number of come-from-behind victories they've had.
1. Alabama
Alabama has a good victory over Mississippi State and decent wins vs. West Virginia and at LSU, while blowning out some lesser SEC schools. Auburn, and potentially the SEC championship game remain.
2. Oregon
The Ducks solidly beat Michigan State and Stanford, and won on the road at UCLA, but lost at home to Arizona. The Ducks have an incredibly easy slate left, before playing for the Pac-12 title, where they'll face a top-25 team: UCLA, Arizona State, USC, Arizona, or Utah.
3. Florida State
FSU has wins over Notre Dame and Clemson in Tallahassee, the latter coming without Jameis Winston. The Noles took down Louisville and Miami on the road. FSU still must host Florida, before facing Duke or Georgia Tech in the ACC Championship Game.
4. Mississippi State
Mississippi State won at LSU and beat Auburn, before losing at Alabama. The Bulldogs still have to travel to Oxford to face Ole Miss in the Egg Bowl.
5. TCU
The Horned Frogs took down Oklahoma and West Virginia on the road, while losing to Baylor. Two weeks ago, TCU drubbed Kansas State, before struggling to beat lowly Kansas on the road Saturday. The Horned Frogs will be big favorites in their remaining games.
6. Ohio State
The Buckeyes' loss at home to Virginia Tech still drags down the resume, but the convincing win over Michigan State helps a bit. Ohio State is now likely to play for the Big Ten title.
7. Baylor
Baylor's resume was pretty light until two weeks ago, when the Bears added a blowout win at Oklahoma to their win over TCU. Their only slip-up: a 14-point loss at West Virginia.
