Late Tuesday, ESPN aired an episode of its Draft Academy TV show in which Jameis Winston revealed that he didn't forget to pay for crab legs in 2014 when he was cited for shoplifting from a Publix grocery store, but rather that it was a hookup.
Winston received an adult civil citation (not an arrest) for shoplifting and was forced to pay restitution to Publix and perform community service. He was also suspended from the baseball team as the incident happened during baseball season.
Wednesday, Jimbo Fisher was asked about the revelation during the ACC Coaches Teleconference.
"I guess if (Winston) says it is, I guess it is," Fisher said.
Fisher said that he had no knowledge of the revelation prior to Wednesday morning, but as a matter of course, FSU's compliance department checked with Publix to make sure there was no larger NCAA issue.
"They had communications about that before, and they had communications [Wednesday]," Fisher said.
The head coach believes Winston's incident is isolated.
"And they think it's totally an isolated incident that happened and they're in the process working of it right now. So, they don't think it's anything else more than that."
Fisher shot down a followup question on how this revelation might impact Winston's draft status. Winston is widely expected to be the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL draft.
