Predicting where college football's top 10 uncommitted recruits will play

Plenty of five-star talent remains on the table, and it just so happens that most of it is on defense

National Signing Day is less than 100 days off, and classes are filling up. Plenty of highly-rated prospects are yet to commit, so with four, here are the top 10 uncommitted prospects in the country, per the 247Sports Composite rankings.

Rashan Gary, DT, Paramus (N.J.) Catholic

Steve Dykes, USA Today

The first school the 6'4, 290-pounder (who can run a 4.74 40) mentioned when I interviewed him in 2014 was Alabama, and the Tide have been on this Garden State prospect for a long time. Other SEC schools like Georgia and Auburn, as well as ACC school Clemson are trying to get in the mix.

But my pick for the country's No. 1 overall recruit is Michigan. Gary's former coach Chris Partridge is the new director of recruiting operations, and two former teammates of Gary's, Jabrill Peppers and Juwann Bushell-Beatty, are also in Ann Arbor.

Greg Little, OT, Allen (Texas)

Little, who isn't so little at 6'6, 305, was committed to Texas A&M for more than a year, but re-opened his recruitment in July. The new favorite was Alabama, because Nick Saban's recruiting territory knows no bounds, but Ole Miss has done a great job recruiting Little and his mother, and are selling the idea of him being a Day 1 starter like Laremy Tunsil. The Rebels are the pick.

Dexter Lawrence, DT, Wake Forest (N.C.)

No idea. The 6'4.5, 335-pounder is extremely quiet about his recruitment, but sources say the key will be to win over his mother, and most believe he will stay close to home. He claims offers from Florida, Florida State, Clemson, Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, and many others. Clemson folks feel confident of late, but I really have no idea on this one, as he still likes Alabama and has also visited NC State frequently of late.

Derrick Brown, DT, Buford (Ga.) Lanier

The country's No. 4 overall prospect told SB Nation this spring that Georgia was his leader, and I am hard-pressed to even think of which team should be No. 2. Brown going anywhere other than UGA would be a huge shocker. Georgia seems on track to keep a large majority of the state's top prospects home.

Isaac Nauta, TE, Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy

Isaac Nauta

The nation's top tight end is back on the market after decommitting from Florida State. Originally from Buford (Ga.) High School, I expect Nauta to stay home and pick Georgia over Michigan, Alabama and TCU. Nauta has bonded with

Oluwole Betiku, DE, Gardena (Calif.) Junipero Serra

betiku

Since decommitting from UCLA, the elite defensive end has made trips to Florida State and Texas A&M, and has been speaking with USC. For now, A&M is the pick because Betiku has a good relationship with the staff, but USC seems to always have a good shot at Serra players so I'll be tracking this closely down the stretch.

Lyndell Wilson, OLB, Montgomery (Ala.) Carver

Alabama. The country's top linebacker spoke glowingly of Alabama when I interviewed him this spring. Florida has done a great job recruiting Wilson, and he has visited Florida several times and speaks glowingly of the Gators, but it's so difficult to pull elite talents out of Alabama.

Wilson is an extremely athletic player at 6'2 and 220 pounds. He strikes down running backs and also shows some ability as a pass rusher and in coverage playing for powerhouse Carver.

Shavar Manuel, DT, Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy

At 6'5, 290 pounds, Manuel is now exclusively focusing on defensive tackle, having given up the dream of playing defensive end. Manuel's recruitment is all over the place, but LSU, Florida and Florida State seem to be the three with the most focus. I'll go with Florida since Manuel has visited multiple times of late.

Mique Juarez, LB, Torrance (Calif.) North

Mique Juarez

Juarez decommitted from USC in October after the firing of Steve Sarkisian, but USC folks are confident they can get him back by hiring a good coach. Since USC will probably hire a good coach, I'll go with USC over Ole Miss, Ohio State, Oklahoma and UCLA.

Ben Davis, LB, Gordo (Ala.)

Ben Davis

The No. 1 inside linebacker in the country is an Alabama legacy, the son of Wayne Davis, who was the leading tackler in Crimson Tide history. The pick is easy: Alabama.
