Welcome to The Crootletter (sign up to get this in your inbox every morning!). I'm Bud Elliott, SB Nation's National Recruiting Analyst, and in this space I'll be sharing news, rumors and musings on the world of college football recruiting.
I'm back with another episode of the SB Nation College Football Podcast. And we have a lot to discuss.
The NFL Draft just wrapped up, and blue chip recruits dominated it even more than normal. But short receivers did not do so well, which prompts a discussion on why recruits, in the desire to have the football in their hands, are robbing their wallets by not even trying to play corner.
Laremy Tunsil, Ole Miss and satellite camps are briefly discussed as well. and I compare cheating in college football to speed limits. If you land a bunch of elite recruits after having won nothing during their lifetimes, people will start to question things.
I also briefly discuss the commitments of five-stars Demetris Robertson and Joshua Kaindoh, before getting into the main topic of the day: quarterbacks. LSU and Alabama added four-star QBs this week in Lowell Narcisse and Tua Tagovailoa earlier this week. Is Alabama totally shifting its QB recruiting dynamic to focus on mobile QBs? Is it related to Saban's relative struggles stopping mobile QBs?
Later in the week, A&M lost five-star QB Tate Martell, after which an A&M coach went crazy subtweeting him and cost the Aggies a four-star receiver as well. Oregon lost a four-star QB, too. Where will A&M and Oregon turn? Who will land Martell and Kelley? I discuss.
Then it's reader questions. Have a great weekend, everyone. I'll soon have this podcast on Itunes, Stitcher, Google Play Music and whatever else y'all want.
