First, catch up on the happenings with Florida State's defensive coaching staff.

Jeremy Pruitt hired as Florida State's defensive coordinator - Tomahawk Nation
Jeremy Pruitt, 37, has accepted the job as Florida State's defensive coordinator, Tomahawk Nation has learned. Pruitt was formerly Alabama's defensive back coach.

Florida State will hire Sal Sunseri as defensive coach - Tomahawk Nation
Tomahawk Nation has learned that Sal Sunseri will join the Florida State coaching staff as a linebacker or defensive end coach. Sunseri was at practice Monday.

Greg Hudson is not expected to return as linebacker coach for FSU.

Pruitt is 37, Sunseri is 53. The new coordinator has three years college coaching experience, and none as a DC. The position coach has 20 years as a college/pro coach, including a few as a DC.

The potential problem here is pretty obvious: is Sunseri going to accept his role working under a much younger and less experienced defensive coordinator?

This had to have been considered when bringing Sunseri aboard. And I think the key is who made the hire.

If Pruitt was the one who brought up Sunseri, based on his past working relationship with him, there really shouldn't be any problem. He's in the best position to know how he and Sunseri work together.

If it was Fisher, then the key becomes how much input and collaboration Pruitt had in making the hire. If Pruitt liked Sunseri, great. But if he didn't, and failed to speak up, that's where a problem could arise.

Not that I am suggesting something like that latter scenario did or will happen. I'm not. Pruitt is apparently a smart guy and he should be sharp enough to speak up if he anticipated a conflict.

Again, not saying that this is the case. I've just received a few inquiries about this, probably because people remember the Chuck Amato episodes at the end of Bowden's tenure. Figured it was worth discussing.
