Burton Burns has declined the offer to become Florida State's running back coach, and will remain in the same position at Alabama, a source told Shannon Terry.

Florida State was rumored to have been offering somewhere in the neighborhood of $400,000, a significant raise from Burns' current salary of $290,000. It is unknown if Burns received a raise from Alabama.

Earlier, Tomahawk Nation reported that Florida State had reached out to Burns:

The position opened up in mid December with the announcement that former running backs coach Eddie Gran would be moving on to become the offensive coordinator under Tommy Tubberville at Cincinnati after three seasons with Jimbo Fisher in Tallahassee.

Burns has been a member of the Alabama coaching staff since Nick Saban arrived as head coach of the Crimson Tide in 2007. During his time coaching running backs in Tuscaloosa, Burns has been a part of three national championship teams, the most recent of which came last night in Miami.

Fisher has already hired away one Alabama assistant coach since the end of the regular season in former UA defensive backs coach Jeremy Pruitt, who was named defensive coordinator on Dec. 20.

We will work with our sources to keep you informed on this matter as the situation progresses.
