Highly rated safety Vonn Bell will play for the Ohio State Buckeyes. Bell chose Ohio State over Tennessee, Alabama and many others. Earlier reports had Bell choosing the Tennessee Volunteers.

The 6'0, 190-pound Rossville (Ga.) Ridgeland High School product is rated as one of the top four safety prospects in the country, and is a consensus top 30 prospect in the 2013 recruiting class. As a senior, he recorded 136 tackles and three interceptions.

Bell is an explosive athlete, and uses his great speed to make a ton of plays from the safety position. He also has very good hands for a defensive back. He's a bit undersized for a safety at this point, but will add some mass to his frame before long.

It's an amazing grab for the Buckeyes, whose defense was atrocious in 2012 and could use an immediate boost.

Ratings: Bell is rated as a five-star recruit by 247, Rivals, and Scout, and is a four-star recruit according to ESPN.

Vitals: Bell stands 6'0, 190 lbs, and runs a 4.45 40 yard dash.

Other offers: Bell held offers from Tennessee, Alabama, Ohio State, Arkansas, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Mississippi State, Missouri, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Texas, UCLA, and Vanderbilt.

Twitter: You can find Bell on Twitter @TheVonnBell7.

Recruitment timeline: Bell has been considered an Alabama lean for quite some time now, but Ohio State and Tennessee both made late charges for him.
