Florida State has added a commitment from quarterback JJ Cosentino, as first reported by Tom Loy of Noles247.

Cosentino stands 6'4 and checks in at 215 pounds. He is a sturdy, pro-style quarterback. Cosentino stars for Pittsburgh (PA) Central Catholic High School, which also produced Dan Marino and Marc Bulger (former starting QB of the St. Louis Rams).

Cosentino only holds one other offer other than Florida State: -- Akron. However, he does have interest from Penn State, Virginia, and N.C. State.

Bud Elliott, National Recruiting Analyst:

There are some things to like about Cosentino. The first is his build. 6'4 and 215 pounds is very good for a pro-style quarterback. Cosentino also works from under center, which is something not done by many quarterbacks at the high school level, due to the spread. Cosentino does a good job of throwing in rhythm. The ball us usually out when he hits the last step in his drop.

His arm is capable for a major college quarterback, and he delivers the ball accurately, but it doesn't appear to be a big arm or a special arm. Several of his deep balls in the highlight are underthrown. Cosentino is not athletic enough to be considered anything other than a pocket passer..

Jimbo Fisher usually requires his quarterbacks to throw at a camp before extending a committable offer. However, FSU apparently feels comfortable with Cosentino, perhaps because of his prior relationship with FSU defensive ends coach Sal Sunseri.

Cosentino is the seventh commitment of the 2014 class for the Seminoles.
