2015 tight end recruit Jordan Davis committed to the Florida State Seminoles Tuesday afternoon. From Houston (TX) Clear Lake High School, Davis is considered one of the top prospects in Texas for the class of 2015.
I spoke with Davis earlier Thursday, and he said that the No. 1 factor in his deciding to commit to Florida State so early was the coaching staff treating him like family since the first day of his recruitment. That comfort factor allowed him to make the call 688 days before National Signing Day 2015.
Davis is also being heavily pursued by Texas A&M and Oklahoma, and is scheduled to attend junior day at Texas on March 23.
Davis is being recruited by new Florida State end coach Tim Brewster, who coached for the Texas Longhorns when UT won the national title in the middle part of the past decade.
Davis stands 6'4 and weighs in at 240 pounds. Davis does have nice athleticism for his size and age. I saw him at a camp in the summer of 2012 and came away impressed. And interestingly, he is only 15. He turns 16 on March 23.
But I also think there is a possibility that Davis can move to offensive tackle. That will depend, of course, on whether he continues to grow physically as he matures. If he does, he could become a good tackle with his length.
For now, however, Davis is being recruited by Florida State as a tight end. He is the third commitment of the 2015 class for the Seminoles.
