Florida Gators football recruiting is already off to a hot start for the class of 2014 with nine commitments. Florida is looking to continue its recruiting success from the classes of 2012 and 2013. The Gators do not plan to take more than 25 recruits in the 2014 class and are almost halfway home.
Commitments since last update: Dalvin Cook, Joseph Paul, Anthony Moten.
Current Verbal Commitments
Dalvin Cook, Miami (Fla.) Central High School: Cook is one of the top players in the country. A stout running back with freakish athleticism, he keeps improving on his skills as a running back. Cook has an excellent blend of size and speed. He flipped from Clemson to Florida on April 6. Alligator Army has more on the flip and what it means for the Gators. He is a consensus five-star recruit and if he keeps maturing physically, he could emerge as the top running back in Florida.
Will Grier, Davidson (NC) Day School: Grier is a 6'3, 180-pound quarterback from Davidson (NC) Day School. He is a consensus four-star recruit and one of the top pro-style quarterbacks in the country. Grier holds offers from schools across the country.
Christian Miller, Columbia (SC) Spring Valley High School: Miller is a 6'4, 215-pound linebacker. He is a consensus four-star recruit with offers from much of the SEC.
Duke Dawson, Cross City (Fla.) Dixie County High School: Dawson is a very physical defensive back. At 5'11 and 180 pounds, he is likely to play corner but could also play safety. Dawson is a consensus four-star recruit and also holds offers from Florida State and Wisconsin.
Anthony Moten, Ft. Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas School: Moten is a consensus four-star defensive lineman and chose UF in early April over multiple SEC offers.
Moten is a swing defensive lineman who is capable of playing anywhere from a three to a five-technique. His best attributes are his length and his quickness. I think he has room to add 10-15 pounds on his frame, and we'll see him eventually playing in the 290-300 range, as opposed to the 305-315 range. To me, he looks like someone capable of being a multi-year starter in a BCS league. He is not a finished product, and is more raw than the typical Aquinas star.
Ryeshene Bronson, Fort Myers (Fla.) Dunbar High School: Bronson is a 6'3, 180-pound receiver. He is rated as a consensus four-star. Bronson is physically gifted but is quite raw and has a long ways to go to become a complete player. He also claims offers from Florida State, Auburn, South Carolina, North Carolina and Miami.
Travaris Dorsey, Jacksonville (Fla.) Raines High School: Dorsey is a 6'3, 305-pound guard. He is rated as a consensus three-star and also claims offers from Tennessee, North Carolina, Louisville and Georgia Tech.
Joseph Paul, New Orleans (La.) St. Augustine High School: Paul is a huge guard at 6'4 and 335 pounds. While almost no high school player should be carrying that much weight, Paul has an impressive offer list because schools see potential and project how he will move once he reshapes his body in a college strength and nutrition program. Paul is a consensus three-star recruit and chose Florida over multiple SEC offers.
Benjamin Knox, Deland (Fla.) High School: Knox is a 6'5, 260-pound offensive line recruit. He is not yet rated by any of the major recruiting services, but does claim offers from Iowa, Louisville and Utah.
National Signing Day is 43 weeks away. Verbal commitments are non-binding and change frequently.
