The Texas Longhorns gained a big football commitment from across the country Tuesday, as Andrew Beck decided to join the 'Horns.

Beck is one of the top linebacker recruits in the state of Florida out of Tampa's Plant High School, a tackling machine, who tallied 126 tackles and six sacks in the 2012 season. He also plays tight end, though most schools are recruiting him as a linebacker. He recently visited the Cardinal and named the school as his leader following the visit, but reversed course to head back to his home state of Texas.

Beck checks in at 6'3 and 230 pounds, which is excellent size for a high school linebacker. He holds offers from Stanford, Texas, Boston College, UConn, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Louisville, Memphis, Miami, Oklahoma, Rutgers, SMU, South Florida and UCF.

Beck is a consensus three-star player, but is right on the cusp of being a four-star recruit on many of the major services. He is widely viewed as one of the top-50 linebackers in the country.

Beck is the 13th commitment of the 2014 class for the Longhorns, becoming the third prospect in the last three days to commit, though there is some question at this time whether or not New Orleans (La.) defensive tackle Courtney Garnett should be considered a commit at this time.

Verbal commitments are non-binding and there are more than 43 weeks until National Signing Day 2014.
