Drake Harris of Grand Rapids (Mich.) Christian was one of the better receivers on hand Sunday at the Chicago NFTC, earning an invite to The Opening 2013.

"This is my first camp. I felt like I played good," said Harris, who previously was playing basketball during camp season.

Harris said that he needs to improve coming off the line at the snap and getting off press coverage, using his hands more. But he knows he has a lot of talent.

"I'd say I'm running crisp routes right now. And being able to stretch the field and my hand-eye coordination, that's what separates myself," Harris said.

The recent developments in Harris' recruitment include his decommitment from Michigan State and his decision to commit to Michigan, as well as giving up hoops.

"I was going to play basketball in college. And if I was still playing basketball, I'd still be at State, because [basketball] coach [Tom] Izzo has always been there for me," Harris said.

"But now that I'm just playing football, Michigan is just better. They have great coaches, a great offense that will fit me well, and just everything they have to offer with academics. Michigan is very big in our state," he continued.

Harris wants to major in business. And speaking of business, Harris described his decision to give up hoops as a "business decision."

"Definitely. I've never really worked on football before. But now I'll be working on my routes and in the weight room getting stronger," Harris said. "My coach has coached receivers in the NFL, and he said I have more talent than they did at the same age. I realized my future was in the NFL, not the NBA."

Harris says that he is done with recruiting and will only visit Michigan. He plans to enroll in January and play immediately at Jeremy Gallon's spot.
