Nick Chubb, at 5'11, 216 pounds, has ideal size for a running back. The Cedartown (Ga.) High School product is not only rated as one of the top prospects in the 2014 class from the talent-rich state of Georgia, but is also one of the top running back recruits in the country.
Chubb is a consensus four-star recruit according to the major recruiting services, and is rated among the top 12 in the entire nation at that position. He's also rated as one of the top 10 recruits overall from the state of Georgia. As you would expect, he holds a long list of offers, including Georgia, South Carolina, Auburn, Florida, Tennessee, Alabama, Arkansas, Florida State, Notre Dame and Ohio State, amongst others.
Bud Elliott, National Recruiting Analyst: Chubb is an excellent back. He has the build typically seen of top SEC and NFL players. I also think Chubb's game translates well to major conference football.
Chubb seems to have an understanding of what he is as a back, and importantly, what he is not. Chubb is a physical, tough runner who has the feet to make plays in traffic. He'll wait for and hit the hole, and does not bounce the ball outside unnecessarily. That's good, because Chubb is quicker than he is fast, meaning that his acceleration is better than his overall speed.
Chubb reminds me a bit of Mike Gillislee or Stefan Taylor, in that he is unlikely to rack up highlight after highlight, but he has the ability to pick his way through traffic, keeping his team ahead of the chains and picking up first downs. Not all yards are created equal, and Chubb can pick up some that mean the most.
Chubb could probably run with more power, and may at the college level. I am not sure he is a threat as a receiver.
