Florida State landed a commitment from an elite linebacker recruit Tuesday as Jacob Pugh pledged to the Seminoles. Out of Tallahassee (Fla.) Godby High School, Pugh chose the Seminoles over Alabama and Florida. He also held offers from Georgia, Miami, North Carolina, both Mississippi schools, Penn State, South Carolina, Tennessee and USC.

Pugh's sophomore highlights

Pugh stands 6'4 and weighs 220 pounds. As of May, he is a consensus four-star recruit. 247sports regards him as the No. 18 outside backer nationally, the No. 208 player overall, and the No. 23 player in Florida. Scout lists Pugh as the No. 25 outside linebacker, though it doesn't even list offers from Florida or Florida State. Rivals ranks Pugh the No. 13 outside linebacker and No. 228 nationally. ESPN is very high on Pugh, rating him as the No. 5 outside linebacker and No. 104 overall. Rankings change frequently throughout the season.

Verbal commitments are non-binding and change frequently. National Signing Day is the first Wednesday in February.
