67 - Florida State (No. 11 AP/No. 12 USA Today Coaches) begins its 67th season of college football on the road at Atlantic Coast Conference newcomer Pitt in the 2013 season opener. The Seminoles and Panthers will usher in a new ACC which expands to 14 teams in 2013 with the addition of Pitt in the Coastal Division and Syracuse in the Atlantic Division.
3 - The Seminoles are ranked in the top 15 of preseason polls for the third straight season under head coach Jimbo Fisher, which included preseason top 10 rankings in 2011 and 2012.
12 - FSU is coming off its best season since 1999 after going 12-2 and winning the program’s 13th ACC Championship - the first since 2005 - and a BCS Bowl - the fi rst since 1999.
5 - Florida State’s win over NIU in the Discover Orange Bowl gave the Seminoles their fi fth straight bowl win which is the nation’s longest active streak.
17 - FSU is 50-16 all-time in season-openers and 17-10 when opening the season on the road. The Seminoles are opening on the road for the fi rst time since 2007 when they traveled to Clemson.
6 - The Seminoles have opened the season with an ACC game 11 times with six of those meetings coming on the road. FSU is 4-2 in ACC road games in the opener. FSU has won 18 consecutive home-openers and not suffered a seasonopening setback at Doak Campbell Stadium since 1974 (Pittsburgh, 9-6).
5 - In six of its last seven ACC contests away from home, Florida State’s defense has held opponents to 20 or less points. Virginia Tech scored 22 points in a 28-22 FSU win last season. FSU held Georgia Tech to 15 points in the 2012 ACC Championship game. Only two ACC opponents (Virginia Tech, Clemson) have scored more than 20 points against the ‘Noles defense in the last 13 conference games.
