Jimbo Fisher said that Florida State is still evaluating starting safety Tyler Hunter, who injured his neck in Saturday's game against Bethune Cookman. I do not like Fisher's mannerisms in the video (below). At all. I don't like how Fisher wouldn't say what the injury was, instead claiming that he really didn't fully know. His comments indicate that other medical people are going to be taking a look at Hunter. I don't expect Hunter to play against Boston College, and I worry that this could be much worse than Fisher is letting on. Remember, Hunter had a back/neck injury in high school. Jalen Ramsey and Keelin Smith will replace Hunter if (when) he is announced as out for this weekend.

We are at an odd place right now with scheduling, and there are two narratives chugging along in two different directions regarding FCS teams. On one hand, the good FCS teams are just about as good as ever, as North Dakota State's win over Kansas State suggests. A league of the current top 10 FCS teams -- North Dakota State, Eastern Washington, Towson, Sam Houston State, Northern Iowa, South Dakota State, Montana, Eastern Illinois, McNeese State, and New Hampshire -- would probably be better than Conference USA this year; hell, it might be better than the AAC.
At the same time, however, the worst teams in the FCS are perhaps further away from the best than ever before. While North Dakota State should probably be in FBS at this point, Savannah State should not be allowed to play FBS teams under any circumstances. Nobody gets anything out of a game like that.

If Peterman had replaced his dozen pass attempts on Saturday with a dozen kneel-downs, at least the Volunteers would have been able to punt; instead, he committed three turnovers that led to Florida points before halftime. The worst part? Unlike virtually every other quarterback listed here, Peterman was not thrust into the lineup by injury or attrition: Coaches actually thought he gave Tennessee a better chance to win than the starter through the first three games, Justin Worley, and refused to concede otherwise until the damage was done.

Make no mistake, with Boyd a senior, Watkins likely headed to the NFL and Morris and Venables possibly coveted for head coaching positions, this is Clemson's best chance to push itself to new heights. If boom-or-bust players like Bryant and Beasley can become consistently great playmakers, Clemson football may be able to put itself over the top and, at least for this season, destroy the last remnants of the negative reputation associated with it.
