Jameis Winston was the best player in the country, and led the best team in the country, and on Saturday, he took home the Heisman.

Jameis Winston used to play video games and win the Heisman in the virtual world. Saturday, ESPN's Chris Fowler asked him about the difference between winning the Heisman on a video game, and the difference between winning the real one. "I can touch this one," Winston said. Indeed.

Jameis Winston is the 2013 Heisman Trophy winner, winning in a huge landslide Saturday.

Winston is Florida State's third Heisman Trophy winner, joining Charlie Ward in 1993 and Chris Weinke in 2000. He is also the youngest player, at 19, to win the award. That's particularly interesting, because Florida State also had the oldest Heisman winner in Weinke, who played professional baseball for several years in the Toronto Blue Jays farm system before returning to Florida State.

Winston's 2013 season is not done, but it is already the best individual season for a quarterback in the history of the school. Winston has thrown 349 passes, completed 68-percent of them, for  3820 yards (10.9 yards-per-attempt), with 38 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Oh, and he is also a threat with his legs. And he rarely played deep into the second half of games, because his offense has been so good. How good? Despite not playing in a gimmicky, pace-based attack, Florida State is on pace to score the most points in the history of college football.

And Winston was his best under pressure: he completed 70-percent of his passes against the blitz, for 12 yards-per-attempt, and 20 touchdowns against the blitz -- all the best in the country.

"My God, a freshman," the late Larry Munson once said of Herschel Walker. I used that in my recap of FSU's opening game against Pitt, in which Winston had his coming out party. I could have used it after every game.

ESPN echoed that during the broadcast. "We've never seen a freshman provide this kind of leadership," Kirk Herbstreit said.

Winston is the best player in the country, and he happens to lead the best team in the country.
