It was a relatively quiet weekend for commitments, but recruiting never stops
The biggest news of the weekend was five-star running back Joe Mixon of California naming his top three schools.

This is a tough call, and there are very good reasons to attend each school. I love Mixon as a pass catcher, and think he could be used like a Marshall Faulk. He snags the ball better than some top receivers and linebackers cannot cover him.
SEC
Ole Miss had a tremendous weekend. First, it landed four-star defensive lineman Garrald McDowell, of Louisiana. Then, elite safety C.J. Hampton surprised everyone by recommitting to the Rebels (he was expected to flip to Alabama).
This raises some questions for players like five-star safety Laurence Jones, a recent Alabama decommitment. He is still considering LSU, Alabama and Ole Miss. Does Hampton's decision affect his thought process?
Speaking of safeties and the SEC, Jamal Peters, a very good junior safety out of Bassfield (Miss.) High School plans to commit fairly soon. Will it be LSU, Ole Miss, Mississippi State or somewhere else?
Pac-12
Oregon scored an electric playmaker in four-star receiver Budda Baker. Baker chose Oregon over Washington. What does that mean for the Ducks? And the Huskies? Washington did land a local three-star tight end.
Could Ed Orgeron return to USC as the defensive line coach? With all of the stuff swirling around Tosh Lupoi, Orgeron looks like a great option. But would he accept?
Big Ten
Illinois (Yes, Illinois) landed a four-star defensive tackle! Impressive.
And Northwestern also added a major commitment in four-star Parrker Westphal.
Ohio State offered a talented tight end recruit and he likes the Buckeyes and several other top BCS schools.
Michigan State adds needed help on the offensive line via a JUCO tackle. The Spartans always look to be solid on the lines, and Mark Dantoni's staff has a great eye for talent.
ACC
Pitt added four-star offensive tackle Alex Bookser, a much needed addition to the class. The Panthers missed, however, on Shai McKenzie, the local four-star runner who chose Virginia Tech. Tech fans hope he can be the next Lee Suggs.
State of the U takes a look at the 2014 Miami depth chart with the new recruits added in.
Maryland lost a commitment, but Testudo Times takes a look at the senior film of new commitment Nate Adams.
Big XII
The Smoking Musket has the latest on West Virginia recruiting.
Another state title for Texas' beast of a QB commit, Jerrod Heard.
How much recruiting room does Notre Dame have for more recruits?
Let's review where Oklahoma State sits right now in recruiting.
Texas Tech has several commitments who earned All-State or All-District honors.
Scouting reports
Our recruiting team hit the West Coast hard over the weekend, profiling 13 players who are headed to Pac-12 schools.
