Florida State added a four-star defensive end recruit Wednesday.

Lorenzo Featherston, a four-star defensive end recruit out of North Carolina, has committed to Florida State according to a report from ESPN.

Featherston is out of Greensboro (N.C.) Page High School. He is an extremely lanky 6'7 and 220 pounds. Featherston also held offers from Florida and Clemson, among others. He is widely considered one of the 10 best defensive ends in the class.

Florida State now has 28 commitments in its 2014 class, including 14 from players rated four or five-stars. The Seminoles are one of a select group of schools to have consistently recruited more four- and five-star players than lesser rated recruits over the last four years.

Featherston is a bit of a project. He is attractive as an edge rusher because of his quickness off the edge and his length. Featherston is not a player who is expected to contribute early. He must first recover from a knee injury that kept him out of the Under Armour All-America Game, and then gain at least 30 pounds.

Featherston was heavily recruited by Florida State coach Jay Graham, a North Carolina native.
