First, some Vegas news. If you didn't see, Florida State opened up as an 11.5-point favorite over Oklahoma State to start the season in Dallas. That line was bet up, and I tweeted that I expected it to get to 17 by game time. It's already there. People have caught on to all that Oklahoma State lost, and the value is quickly being sucked out of this wager.
Speaking of Vegas, FSU is unsurprisingly the odds-on favorite to repeat as National Champions at pretty much every casino, at roughly 4/1.
Recruiting
FSU fans will be happy to know that the Florida State brand is very strong in other parts of the country as well.
As you probably saw, Tim Settle said Florida State was one of his top schools, along with Clemson and Tennessee. of course, Settle needs to qualify, but the five-star Virginia DT is a very good player.
Also in Virginia for the camp was another five-star recruit in 2016 Dematha Catholic (MD) defensive end Shane Simmons. Simmons has a great relationship with coach Sal Sunseri and FSU is the team to beat for his services.
FSU is also in on 2016 defensive tackle Rashan Gary, of New Jersey, who is a legitimate five-star type prospect.
Florida State also could be one of the teams that receives a visit from Minkah Fitzpatrick, the five-star New Jersey cornebrack committed to Alabama.
And I spoke with FSU commit David Robbins, who I think profiles at guard or center.
But Patrick Allen seems to be favoring Ohio State.
Who should be on the All-Jimbo Team?
The offseason presents time for us to have some fun with creative ideas. This year, we will be voting, as a community, on who should be on the All-Jimbo Fisher team. So here are the rules:
The player must have played for FSU when Fisher was the head coach (so 2010-13, not the 2007-09 OC years). I need nominations by position of anyone who is not an obvious candidate. Please leave those in the comments section, and the voting will start tomorrow.
