Prospect Brian Cole is one of the top recruits in the country and a fantastic athlete.
Brian Cole is one of the top athletes in the Class of 2015.
Cole, out of Heritage High School in Saginaw, Mich., stands 6'2 and weighs in at 190 pounds. As of April, he's rated as a consensus four-star prospect by Rivals, 247sports, Scout and ESPN. Rivals, 247 and Scout list him as an athlete, and 247 ranks him as the best player at the position. ESPN says he's the ninth-best receiver in the class. The 247sports composite ratings, a compilation of data from the four major recruiting services, list him as the 58th-best player in America, fourth-best athlete and top player from the state of Michigan.
Cole is receiving interest from several top programs, mostly in Big Ten territory. He holds scholarship offers from Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Eastern Michigan, Illinois, Nebraska, Purdue, Tennessee and Wisconsin.
Cole is an absolutely fantastic athlete, easily one of the best in the country. And combined with his size and build, that athletic combination is deadly on the football field. He looks like a man among boys.
Cole is quick-twitch to the max. His ability to stop, and then get right back up to top speed is excellent. He can sky to get the football as a receiver if any defender has managed to keep up with his top-end speed, and he snatches the football well with his hands, naturally.
As a running back, Cole does a nice job setting up his blocks, though he can be a bit upright. He utilizes a good stiff-arm move, and can run through some tackles.
I prefer Cole with the ball in his hands and not on defense, but many do believe that he will end up playing defense. if he does, his physical skills will certainly help him, but he'll need to develop better defensive instincts.
Regardless of where he plays, Cole has the ability to make an instant impact in college football and should be a multi-year starter.
