Florida State senior receiver Rashad Greene continued his run on the record book Saturday against Citadel, amassing 4 catches, 80 yards and no touchdowns.
Greene is tied with the legendary Ron Sellers in touchdowns (23), and is sixth all-time in the category. Andre Cooper (24) and Barry Smith (25) are next up on the list.
Assuming FSU plays 14 games, and as the conference favorite this is a relatively safe assumption, Greene will need to average 0.83 touchdowns to catch Peter Warrick atop the all-time list. Warrick had 32 career receiving touchdowns.
Greene inched closer to Kez McCorvey's mark of 189 catches, and now needs just four to break it. He needs just 26 to break the all-time mark held by Ron Sellers.
With the performance, Greene is now poised to pass E.G. Green's mark of 2920 yards, good for fifth all-time, as early as the Clemson game, needing 173 yards to do so.
Assuming FSU plays 14 games, and as the conference favorite this is a relatively safe assumption, Greene will need to average 71 yards to catch Ron Sellers atop the all-time list. Sellers has 3598 career yards.
Historical note: Of course, it should be noted that Sellers' records are from a time in which far fewer games were played each season, and stats from bowl games did not count. Sellers amassed his numbers in only 31 games. He was considerably more dominant than Greene and really any other FSU receiver on this list on a per-game basis.
By contrast, the Citadel contest is Greene's 39th career game at Florida State. The great Peter Warrick did it in 43.
