Florida will look to completely finish off Franks' recruiting during his visit this weekend.
ORLANDO, Fla. -- Feleipe Franks' Crawfordville (Fla.) Wakulla Eagles fell just short against Orlando's Bishop Moore, 37-34 Friday in the 5A State Finals. The four-star Florida QB recruit was 12-of-18 for 179 yards including two nice touchdown throws to fellow four-star receiver Keith Gavin. Wakulla ended a great year at 13-2. Franks, who also kicks and punts for the Eagles, missed a 50-yard field goal attempt at the end of regulation.
On the penultimate Wakulla drive, Franks had a great scramble and throw of 56 yards to keep the chances alive.
After the game, Franks spoke about the status of his commitment to the Florida Gators and LSU's continued pursuit of the former Tigers commitment.
Franks also discussed what he expects to learn during his visit to Gainesville this weekend; his thoughts on Florida's pursuit of five-star QB Jacob Eason, who is currently committed to Georgia; and how much early playing time means to him.
Franks is an early enrollee and Florida will be his last visit before the recruiting dead period begins next week. Eason is expected to make his decision next week as well.
Evaluation: Franks has really improved year-over-year. His throwing motion is still long, but now has less of the baseball look it had in previous years (Franks is a talented baseball player). He routinely shook off rushers to make plays for the Eagles. While I don't believe he would be a good candidate to start as a true freshman in the SEC, his tools are undeniable.
