Notre Dame received some good news Friday during the Under Armour All-America Game. Max Redfield, a top safety recruit out of Mission Viejo (Calif.) High School, committed to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish over the USC Trojans.
At 6'3 and 195 pounds, Redfield has excellent size and range. He can drop into the box to play the run, or align over the slot receiver in pass coverage.
Don't miss: SB Nation's in-depth scouting report of Redfield.
Redfield originally committed to the USC Trojans in July, and decommitted in November after taking a visit to Notre Dame.
Notre Dame does not have great secondary depth and Redfield stands a good chance of receiving playing time early in his career with the Irish.
All week, Redfield was recruited to the Fighting Irish by four other Notre Dame commitments, including Alex Anzalone (LB), Hunter Bivin (OL), Colin McGovern (OL) and Tarean Folston (RB).
