Roberts is one of the best cornerbacks in the Southeast.
Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide make it look easy, and on the same day the Tide saw players drafted back-to-back-to-back in the first round of the NFL Draft, they landed a top defensive prospect in cornerback Stephen Roberts out of Opelika (Ala.) High School.
Now, Roberts is a long way from being Dee Milliner. Milliner was considered a five-star, the No. 2 cornerback recruit in the country in high school, and it turned out he blossomed into a lockdown guy worthy of a top-ten pick. Meanwhile, the 6'0, 177-pound Roberts is merely a four-star recruit per most scouting services. With only five commits thus far, Alabama is already starting to build a strong defensive backfield in the class of 2014. Roberts joins Kalvaraz Bessent, also a four-star corner, and Chris Williams, a defensive back who went to high school with Bessent.
We'll see if Roberts or Bessent is one of the people who's been "Built By Bama" in a few years.
