Tim Settle is one of the top defensive tackle recruits in the class of 2015. From Manassas (Va.) Stonewall Jackson High School, Settle already holds offers from Alabama, North Carolina, Ohio State, South Carolina, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Wisconsin and Clemson.
Sunday, he'll try to be one of a select few rising juniors to earn an invite to Nike's The Opening, the prestigious showcase event held in Oregon at the Nike Campus. To do so, he'll have to show out at the Nike Football Training Camp in Columbus, Oh.
"I want to be the top underclassman here and get invited to The Opening," Settle said. "I'm going to try to not bullr ush, and work on my hips and my agility. My game gets better and football gets easier if I can do things in combination."
Since the NFTC is on the Ohio State campus, Settle took the opportunity to visit the Buckeyes.
"It was awesome," Settle said. "It's everything. The coaches were telling us how much [an Ohio State] degree means after college. They have a good athletic program and a good academic program. I could see myself playing here. I like it."
Settle is being recruited by coaches Zach Smith and Mike Vrabel, with whom he has a great connection. Still, Settle insists that he doesn't have a favorite -- kind of.
"I don't have a favorite, but Ohio State; you go from UVA and UNC to Ohio State, and you see a big difference," Settle said. "But you can't judge on the campus, you have to see yourself playing there. But I really like this campus."
Settle has a busy summer planned.
"I'm going to try to get as many places as possible, and head down South," Settle said. "I'm going to Alabama on July 13, try to hit Florida and South Carolina after that, definitely. And UNC, UVA and Virginia Tech, they're not that far, so I'll hit them a few times. "
Settle has no plans to commit early at this time.
"I'm just going to wait, ya know, because there are a lot of opportunities and options, and a lot can change," he said.
