The best high school players from across the country are getting together this week at Nike headquarters in Oregon.
There's a good reason people refer to The Opening as the Super Bowl of recruiting. It's the culmination of a series of nationwide recruiting camps, bringing the nation's best high school football players to the headquarters of Nike where they can show what they can do in a 7-on-7 tournament setting. It's also the setting for the Elite 11 finals, which brings together the country's best quarterback prospects.

Roughly half of the recruits heading to The Opening are already committed, but a strong performance in front of this kind of exposure can make an under-recruited prospect into a hot commodity. Team Lunar Beast has 19 commits on its roster already, followed by Super Bad with 17.
The Opening will feature players from 28 states across the country, as well as from American Samoa, Washington, D.C., and British Columbia. California and Florida are tied with the most players with 26 apiece, and Texas isn't far behind with 24. After that, Georgia and Louisiana also bring a strong contingent at 14 and 10 players, respectively.
Of the 167 players attending, only 12 are underclassmen. Of those 12 members of the 2017 recruiting class, only three are already committed somewhere, but they are committed to Alabama, Auburn and LSU. There's a good chance more offers will be coming after The Opening concludes.
